Our Projects

Over the years Seon Ashram Trust has served thousands of people. At Present ashram takes care of 353 patients without discrimination of caste and creed, expanding its service to people with mentally retarded, Mentally ill, aged, orphan, Physically Handicapped and the destitute school going children. Projects that Seon Ashram currently handling are:

1. Seon Self Help Group

We have registered our self-help groups under Seon Swa Sahaya Sanghagala Okkuta® under Society Act, Reg No; DKM/S 207/2009-10. In total there are 130 groups with 1473 beneficiaries. All the families being part of these self-help groups are motivated to accumulate small savings and help one another through internal lending among the members. This group will be a Dais to implement all project activity and ensure to reach targeted results, which sponsorship program aimed at Integral Development program of the child and its family.

2. Community Development

As part of the community Development service, the trust provides the following development projects:

      • The Trust provides financial assistance for the marriage of girls born into very poor families.
      • Free medical aid is provided to the rural poor.
      • The trust supports the economically weaker sections of society by providing financial assistance to repair houses that have been damaged by heavy rains or landslides.
      • The Trust is having Self-help Groups in villages, which helps the families to reduce the financial risk.
      • The Trust also distributes books, umbrellas, uniform and school fees to the poor children.

Following are the community Development Projects Held By Seon Ashram Trust:

      1. Health Programs:
      2. Brought awareness about dental care by conducting free dental camp to the community members.
      3. Continued to facilitate with health insurance scheme “Sneharakshe”.
      • Conducted free Health Camp and eye camp to the community members.
      1. Created awareness on HIV/AIDS to the SHG members.
      2. Created awareness on health and hygiene.
      3. Every month conducted free Mental Health camp to the community people
      4. Training Programs:
      5. Training on quality and importance of education and parents’ role in educating their children.
      6. Training on leadership and Self Employment.
      • Brought awareness about the stages of child development and child care among women
      1. Training on the importance of education to the women and children.
      2. Economic Programs:
      3. Training on auditing of account books and made evaluation and grading of SHG groups those who have completed 5 years.
      4. Motivated the SHG members for the mobilization of small savings.
      • Encouraged the members through revolving fund to undertake Income Generating Programs.
      1. Distributed profit to the SHG members for their savings.
      2. Financial support for the poor and needy people, old age and marriage help.

3. Child Sponsorship program

Child sponsorship program majorly focusing on Create awareness on education and health to build self-confidence, motivate towards savings and thrift and economical sustainability’s, inculcate a sense of fraternity.

At present Seon Ashram supporting 220 children who belong to economically backward sections for their education. Sponsorship program has helped a lot of children and has prevented and controlled the dropouts from the school.

4. Care and Treatment of the ill and their rehabilitation

The main objective of the Ashram is the rehabilitation of mentally ill and physically challenged, aged and destitute children and bring them back in the mainstream of society. They are here for a variety of reasons: Many have been picked from the street, some women came here after being raped on the street, others were sent here by their families, some of them are collected and dropped off by Government officials, social workers and NGO’s.

Ones the patient is done with the registration formalities, The doctor also examines the patients and diagnoses the problem and as per doctor’s prescriptions, the staff nurses give them medicines. Apart from medications the patients are involved in various activities like crafts work, drawing, English classes, indoor and outdoor activities, vegetable gardening, Agarbatti making (instance stick) goat and cow rearing, helping in construction works and so on which help them to develop their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and also help the inmates to work independently when they go back to society – our visitors and well wishers are impressed by their works.

5. Education for the needy children

The Trust has taken over the management of Little Flower English Medium School in Kanajar, Karkala Taluk of Udupi District and the school going children from the Ashram have been shifted there. Here schooling and boarding arrangements along with basic school infrastructure have been set up by the Trust.

6. Pension for Senior Citizens

Economic independence is one of the major need for senior citizens, who don’t have a much financial background in the society. Seon Ashram Trust provides financial support for poor and needy senior citizens. At present Seon Ashram, is providing financial support for 20 needy aged people who stay nearby villages.
