Sri Devi College visited us

On May 5th we were honored to welcome students 40 students of the last year batch for Master of Social Work and their professor HRD Prof. Sebastian from Sri Devi College Mangalore, where Mr. Paulose son, Subash, has finalized his education. The purpose was to visit the founder family and to learn more about their “social work”. They were welcomed by Mr. Paulose himself, his daughter Ms. Sowmya UP and Ms. Merin, who works as a counselor in Seon Ashram. First of all they had an introduction about how everything started here, how we serve to our inhabitants and how they can take initiative in a Summer Camp or as a volunteer. After this our residents were shown all the floors to see and be with our inmates being mentally ill and challenged, handicapped as well as aged.

The students were very interested asking many questions about our project. Especially the residents’ Craft works and our income generating projects attracted their attention. Moreover they took initiative during their stay by serving food to our residents and the disabled children in collaboration with one of our foreign volunteers. Since many of them, study Social Word, they wanted to know more about our center and showed interest in coming here as volunteers in the future.

They were very impressed by our foreign volunteers Tim and Rebecca from Germany who performing a one-year voluntary service in our institution and shared their experiences with our internees, Mrs. Swathi and Ms. Wilma. According to them it is not easy to get contact to our residents, but by the time they developed a good relationship with them.
After the students have served the food, they got on their bus home at 3pm.
