Sports Day 16 – 3 – 11

Four weeks ago we held our Sports Program in the afternoon of February 24th and 25th. Since we celebrate our 12 anniversary during this month – we wanted to share this joyful incident and initiated the “Seon Ashram Sports Day”.

Thanks to our active residents, staff, nursing students and volunteers – we could make this a day of fair play and happiness. The program lasted from 9 in the morning starting with the lighting of the torch by the Church Father until 6 in the evening when the flag was taken down.

In the chill of the morning we held the following competitions: Shot Put, Discus, Running Race, Volleyball (males), Throwball (females).

In the afternoon and the evening we played lucky games and held the long jump competition.

The participation of our residents once more exceeded our expectations – last time we had about 100 spectators, this time about 100 participated in the games offered.

They wanted to show the world what they got – that, despite their handicap, they can compete with others on a equal level and even exceed the performances of us.

A guest’s Thought

“Such a day can be better than therapy or medication – it makes the people active and they come out. Not only out of their room, but also of their reserve wanting to show the world what they can. During this day they showed an active side society does not know – it does not fit the cliche of the depressed poor person sitting in the corner. “

Father Sebastian during our celebration

We were honored by the visit of the local Church Father and Dr. Haarale. Since we know now what can be possible with all our common efforts, we are likely to hold a sports day every 2nd or 3rd month.
