A big home – many people… and many clothes….to wash

Seon Ashram Psyhciatric Hospital is home to over 440 residents. Among them 100 are mentally ill, 153 are physically or mentally challenged and another 12 are handicapped infants. So there any many people who have special needs – many of them are bed ridden or lack self-care. Thus these people need more clothes… and make them dirty more quickly. So there is much material to wash.

 

The state so far

Until now there was only cold water and soap detergent to wash the dresses – and the residents had to go themseves to wash them. Afterwards the clothes were hanged outside for getting dry – which is hardly possible during the rainy season. This way it is hard to ensure our aimed hygiene stadards.

 

The approach

Therefore, after mindful consideration, we eventually decided to purchase a 50kg all-in-one industrial washer and dryer to cope with the daily flood of clothes. Now the dresses will be washed in hot water and dryed properly afterwards – thus we can be sure that all stains and bacteria are extinct.

Challendges remain

 

However the financing of the amount to be paid remains a challenge. About 6 lakh rupees are to be paid. We humbly pray you to offer us a helping hand to finalize this project.
